BOSTON - NuvoAir, a digital health innovator delivering virtual-first care (V1C), announced the appointment of two industry leaders to its Board of Directors today. Distinguished healthcare executives, Karen Piacentini and Alexander Packard, bring long-time experience in scaling tech-enabled healthcare organizations. NuvoAir is excited to add the expertise of these members to the strong foundation of its existing Board as the company enters its next phase of growth supporting value-based care models.

“We welcome the addition of our new Board members as we grow to enable health plans and accountable care organizations (ACOs) to deliver virtual-first care for members who are diagnosed with some of the most complex and costliest conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and chronic heart failure (CHF). Given that one in three COPD patients also have CHF, increasing risk for hospitalizations and death by 30%, payors in the US are more focused than ever on cardio-pulmonary conditions. Bringing on the talents of Karen and Alexander will improve our ability to revolutionize the care experience,” shares Lorenzo Consoli, Founder and CEO of NuvoAir.

Karen Piacentini is a results-driven healthcare executive and advisor with 30 years of health plan management experience. As a Senior Vice President at Optum, Karen ensured that Optum and UnitedHealthcare aligned goals and strategies, driving significant growth while optimizing operational efficiency. Prior to Optum, Karen led UnitedHealthcare Employer & Individual product strategy and drove an innovation pipeline of over 45 new products annually. Karen held previous executive positions with Cigna, Prudential and Columbia University.

“Health plans realize there is a massive opportunity to capitalize on innovations in high-cost areas such as COPD, especially when comorbidities such as chronic heart failure augment the complexities of patient engagement and the ability to deliver effective care management. I look forward to working with NuvoAir to help align payor needs with our solutions within value-based care arrangements,” states Karen Piacentini.

Alexander Packard is a strategic advisor and executive coach at Harvard Business School with 25 years of experience scaling innovative companies. As a founding team member and former COO and President of Iora Health, he helped to build and nationally scale their value-based primary care delivery model. He joined One Medical as Chief Integration Officer to ensure a successful merger when One Medical acquired Iora Health in 2021. Over the last two decades, Alexander has coached and advised leaders at both for-profit and nonprofit organizations.

Alexander Packard states, “I’m excited to join NuvoAir at this stage as the company has begun to realize meaningful gains for those living with cardio-pulmonary conditions. NuvoAir’s model is robust and built on a bespoke engagement engine that allows risk-bearing providers and payors to reach those diagnosed with costly conditions who have traditionally been difficult to engage or have limited access to specialty care. NuvoAir is flipping the script on care delivery and these are exciting times.”
